Chinese universities gain in rankings of world's top schools

The 2020 Academic Ranking of World Universities shows Chinese universities have been improving in overall academic performance. Among the top 1,000 universities worldwide, 144 on the Chinese mainland are on the 2020 list, and six entered the top 100.

Harvard University has been ranked first globally for 18 consecutive years. Second place, this year, went to Stanford University, followed by Cambridge University.
