Embassy spokesperson's remarks on the hype by Adrian Zenz of so-called Chinese government's 'Confidential Papers' on Xinjiang

Question: Recent media reports say that the German academic Adrian Zenz provided the "Uyghur Tribunal" with and made public some "confidential papers" of the Chinese Government on Xinjiang and the relevant analysis. What is the comment of the Chinese Embassy?

Embassy Spokesperson: Adrian Zenz makes a living by fabricating rumours on Xinjiang and slandering China. He has no credit or academic integrity whatsoever and his remarks and actions are despicable and contemptible. By making up more fake news on Xinjiang, he is only playing the same old trick again which does not worth refuting.

The so-called "Uyghur Tribunal", funded by the violent terrorist and separatist organisation "World Uyghur Congress", is just a political tool used by a few anti-China elements to deceive and mislead the public. It is not a legal institution. Nor does it have any legal authority. It is a downright pseudo tribunal. These tricks are just clumsy shows of anti-China elements for their self-entertainment. Anyone with conscience and reason will not be deceived or fooled by them.

The so-called Xinjiang-related issues have nothing to do with religions, ethnic groups or human rights, but everything to do with fighting terrorism, separatism and extremism. From 1990 to the end of 2016, there had been thousands of violent terrorist cases in Xinjiang, which resulted in huge loss of innocent lives and property. In the face of the maleficence of the violent terrorist forces, any responsible government would take resolute actions. The Government of the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, firmly implementing the policies of the Central Government, cracked down on violent terrorist crimes in accordance with law and at the same time addressed the root cause. It carried out de-radicalisation education, promoted economic development, improved people's life, strengthened ethnic solidarity, and fully safeguarded the rights and interests that people of all ethnic groups enjoy in accordance with law. These measures have yielded remarkable results. There have been no violent terrorist cases in Xinjiang for five years in a row, security and stability have been restored, rapid economic growth has been achieved, and the living standards of people of all ethnic groups have seen remarkable improvement. The policies of the Chinese Government on Xinjiang have won the heartfelt support of people of all ethnic groups in the region and the full recognition of the international community.

China will remain focused on doing the right thing and following the path that suits its national reality. This will not be stopped by any person or any force. Xinjiang will achieve new and greater success in economic and social development, and enjoy a better future.

The lies of Adrian Zenz and the so-called "Uyghur Tribunal" have been laid bare. They are morally bankrupt. They will never rock the firm position of the Chinese people or undermine the stability and prosperity in Xinjiang!
