China has continued to make its own recommendations for attaining "strong, sustainable and balanced growth". China reaps benefits and contributes a lot to the G20 in numerous ways through its participation in the world's largest 20 economies. All things considered, countries should alter how they perceive China and should look at it positively in order to appropriately assess it. After all, China is a nation that has largely contributed covertly to peace and economic growth in the region and across the globe.

Former US Secretary of State Henry Kissinger praised renewed talks between the US and China at a summit in Bali, but said a long path remains to prevent conflict between the world's largest economies. The 99-year-old Kissinger said the meeting between Presidents Joe Biden and Xi Jinping on Monday kickstarted a "bridge-building effort", including with the resumption of cooperation in areas such as climate change and the global economy.

During the meeting, held on the sidelines of a Group of 20 summit, (Republic of Korea President) Yoon also said he hopes to work together not only for regional peace and stability but also on global issues, such as climate change and energy.

"China's role is important in seeking freedom, peace and prosperity in the international community." Yoon said it is in both countries' interests to closely communicate and cooperate with each other, and that South Korea will work for a mature relationship based on mutual respect.

The meeting between (Australian Prime Minister) Albanese and Xi represents an especially important moment for the relationship between two major powers in the Asia-Pacific region, which had soured in recent years.

Albanese called the discussions "very positive and constructive" in remarks to the media after the meeting. He said the countries still have "big differences to manage" but insisted "we're always going to be better off when we have dialogue and are able to talk constructively and respectfully, but also honestly, about what those differences are."

The trip to China by Mr. Blinken, his first as secretary of state, would have the same broad aims as the meeting in Bali: to keep the lines of communication open and to have frank exchanges about important issues at senior levels in order to avoid conflict. American and Chinese officials plan to work out details of the trip over the coming weeks.

The US-China relationship is key to peace and stability in Asia and the world, said (Singaporean) Deputy Prime Minister Lawrence Wong on Monday.

"Ultimately, key to peace and stability in Asia and the world is the state of the US-China relationship. Both powers have legitimate interests across Asia," he said.

"And while we can expect more intense and vigorous competition between the two powers in the years ahead, we hope they will eventually be able to find a way to co-exist together, so that we can have an environment that is stable and inclusive, one where countries big and small can compete and cooperate peacefully together."

          THE STRAITS TIMES

Chinese President Xi Jinping and his American counterpart Joe Biden expressed the desire for their countries to work together to manage tensions and avoid conflict, as they met in person on Monday for the first time since Mr Biden took office almost two years ago.

Acknowledging that the current state of bilateral relations was not what the international community had hoped for, the two leaders indicated that they were ready to work towards getting relations back on track and having their countries play key roles in addressing global challenges.
