Xi busy meeting world leaders

PRESIDENT XI JINPING:

- China-Mauritania relations have maintained healthy and steady development in recent years, with political mutual trust strengthened, pragmatic cooperation deepened and cultural and people-to-people exchanges becoming closer.

- China firmly supports Mauritania pursuing a development path suited to its own conditions, opposes external forces interfering with its internal affairs, and appreciates Mauritania for its steadfast support for its position on the Taiwan question and issues related to Hong Kong, Xinjiang and human rights.

- Over the years, China has helped Mauritania with major projects in road, bridge and hospital construction. It will continue to encourage Chinese enterprises to take an active part in the sectors of energy, fishery, mining and infrastructure to deliver more benefits to the Mauritanian people.

MAURITANIAN PRESIDENT MOHAMED OULD GHAZOUANI:

- Mauritania always stays committed to the one-China policy. It will also continue to support China's stance on the human rights issue, and firmly opposes any external forces interfering in China's domestic affairs under the pretext of human rights.

- Mauritanian wants to maintain high-level exchanges with China and learn from China about its governance experience and keep expanding cooperation with China.
