Country unveils emblem of war victory and unity

China unveiled a new emblem on Tuesday to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the victory in the Chinese People's War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War.

Released by the State Council Information Office, the emblem features an image of the Great Wall in the middle, which is flanked by beams of light on top and olive branches at the bottom, displaying the number "80" and the years "1945-2025" highlighted in yellow.

The Great Wall symbolizes national unity and bravery in the face of invasion, underscoring the pivotal role of patriotism in China's victory over Japanese aggression, the office said.

The olive branches represent the peace achieved through unyielding resistance, as well as the Chinese people's commitment to working with others around the world to cherish and safeguard peace.

A "gate of victory", formed by beams of light, symbolizes the triumph of justice over evil, light over darkness and progress over reaction. It also reflects China's confidence in achieving national rejuvenation under the leadership of the Communist Party of China, according to the office.

The emblem may be used in decorations for commemorative events marking the anniversary, as well as in publicity materials, educational campaigns and relevant diplomatic activities.

The office emphasized that the emblem must not be altered, used for commercial purposes or otherwise misused.

The Chinese People's War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression began in 1931 and lasted until 1945, making it the earliest and longest-running front in the global fight against fascism. As the main theater in the East during the World Anti-Fascist War, China was a major force in resisting Japanese militarism and made a significant contribution to the final victory.
