Diplomats discover Ningxia's natural wonders

The Helan Mountain Rock Painting Scenic Spot in Yinchuan city, Ningxia Hui autonomous region, welcomed diplomats on Thursday, who are visiting Ningxia to discover its natural wonders and the beauty of China.

The Helan Mountain is like the shield, presenting a geographical spectacle surrounded by desert resembling that of Jiangnan watertown in the hinterland of China. The Helan Mountain Rock Painting Scenic Spot sits at the eastern foothills of the Helan Mountain.

As a national treasure and bestowed by nature, this place has a planned area of 12 square kilometers, preserving about 6,000 scattered ancient rock paintings, which were engraved from the Stone Age onwards and illustrate the "dialogue" between craftsmen and stones.

The rock paintings, known as "the art gallery of prehistoric humans" and "an epic on stones", are a record of ancient hunting, farming, herding, rituals and totems, as well as multi-ethnic encounters in the Helan Mountain area back then.
