Diplomats discover Ningxia's natural wonders

"This whole place, with mountains and rivers, is beautiful. The rock painting is wonderful and extremely unique. I think the rock paintings are more like a communication from the ancient times. It's really impressive", said Khamis Mussa Omar, ambassador of Tanzania to China.

Another place to visit of the day is the Shapotou Scenic Spot, one of the first national 5A-level tourist attractions, in Zhongwei city. It is located on the southeastern edge of the Tengger Desert. Generations of desertification fighters here make tremendous efforts to deal with severe environmental problems.

In this journey, diplomats better understood the region's environmental preservation miracle, and were astonished by local's "straw checkerboard sand barrier" technique, a low-cost and highly effective anti-desertification approach.
