Gaza ceasefire brings calls for full implementation

According to regional media, the US will send about 200 troops to the Middle East to monitor the implementation of the ceasefire deal. Egyptian, Qatari, Turkish and United Arab Emirates military officials could be embedded in the team.

UN Special Rapporteur on the Occupied Palestinian Territories Francesca Albanese said in a post on social media that a ceasefire deal is welcomed, however it must be ensured that it is respected, Israel's "illegal occupation and apartheid in Palestine are dismantled" and "genocide perpetrators are held accountable". Albanese noted the Israeli violation of a previous agreement.

Several Arab, Islamic and European states met in Paris for the Ministerial Meeting on US Plan for Gaza on Thursday.

Participants stressed the importance of ensuring the full implementation of the ceasefire and territorial and political unity of the West Bank and Gaza within the framework of implementing the two-state solution.

"We discussed the major fields to which we intend to contribute: Security, governance, reconstruction, and humanitarian aid," French Foreign Minister Jean-Noel Barrot told reporters after the meeting.

The Iranian Foreign Ministry said in a statement that it has consistently supported initiatives aimed at halting Israel's "genocidal war", as it underscored the responsibility of the international community "to prevent the occupying regime's violations of its obligations".

Iran also called upon all parties to "remain vigilant and alert to the deceit and duplicity of the Zionist regime".
