President Xi Jinping has pointed out that the five development ideas of "innovation, coordination, green, opening-up and sharing" are the concentration of China's economic work experiences over the past three decades, and reflect the ruling Party's new understanding about China's development. The 13th Five Year Plan (2016-20) has listed "green development", or environmentally friendly growth, as a key path for economic progress, and given priority to strengthening environmental protection inspection and enforcement.
This not only shows that the central government is taking green development to a new level in China's future development, but also guarantees the implementation of such strategic measures.
"Green development" meets the public's demand for a better life and will help solve environmental problems the country has encountered in its rapid progress. It points to the way for sustainable and healthy social and economic development over the next five years. Green development is not only the inevitable choice in the face of resource shortages, but also a new productive force for the next stage of overall growth.
