美麗中國(guó) (meili zhongguo): Beautiful China

The communiqué of the Fifth Plenary Session of the 18th Communist Party of China Central Committee stated that the country should stick to green development and adhere to the basic principles of resource conservation, environmental protection and sustainability. It should establish a new pattern of modernization that promotes the construction of a beautiful country and enables humans and nature to exist harmoniously together.

To build a beautiful China, top priority should be given to strengthening environmental management, and the 13th Five-Year Plan (2016-20) advances the goal of achieving an overall improvement in the quality of the ecology and environment by the end of 2020. This indicates the transition to pollution prevention work.

To achieve the goal of a beautiful China, focus should be put on improving the quality of the environment and establishing a sound and strict environmental protection system that involves the government, enterprises and the public. A low carbon recycling industrial system should be built and the development and use of clean energy established. Only in this way can a beautiful China with blue sky, green land and clean water be preserved for future generations.
