The extract of one of the letters from Diana to Dodi

Extracts of intimate letters from Princess Diana to Dodi al-Fayed were read out at an inquest into their deaths in a London court on Friday, and Dodi's father's lawyer said they showed the relationship was serious, not just a holiday fling.
In one letter Diana thanks "Darling Dodi" for a holiday on his yacht, adding "This comes with all the love in the world and as always a million heartfelt thanks for bringing such joy into this chick's life."
In another exchange, dated August 13, 1997 -- a week after the first media reports of their affair and just over two weeks before the couple were killed in a Paris car crash -- Diana sent him some cufflinks which had belonged to her father.
"Darling Dodi, these cufflinks were the very last gift from the man I loved most in the world, my father," her letter said.
"They are given to you as I know how much joy it would give him to know they were in such safe and special hands. Fondest love, Diana."
Dodi's father Mohamed al-Fayed, owner of the Harrods luxury store in London, says Diana and his son were killed by British security services on the orders of Philip, Queen Elizabeth's husband and father of Diana's ex-husband, Prince Charles.
Al-Fayed alleges the killing was ordered because the couple were about to announce their engagement and Diana was pregnant. He claims the royal family did not want the mother of the future king to have a child with his son.
Michael Mansfield, the lawyer representing al-Fayed at the inquest, produced the extracts from the letters as he quizzed the princess's friend and close confidante, Rosa Monckton, about the couple's relationship.
"She was treating this relationship with Dodi as a serious matter wasn't she? It doesn't suggest it was little more than a fling after a couple of days," Mansfield asked her.
Monckton replied that Diana tended to speak and write in an extravagant way but agreed the letters were not just written to make someone happy.

在1997年8月13日的另一封信中，戴安娜將她父親的一些袖扣送給了多迪。寫這封信的前一周，兩人的戀情曝光，兩周之后，他們便葬身于巴黎車禍。
戴安娜在信中說：“親愛的多迪，這些袖扣是最愛我的父親送給我的最后一件禮物。”
“我現(xiàn)在把它們送給你，因?yàn)槲抑溃绻赣H知道這些袖扣現(xiàn)在屬于一個(gè)安全而特別的人，他一定會(huì)感到很欣慰。深愛你的，戴安娜。”
多迪的父親、倫敦哈羅德茲名品店的老板默罕默德?艾爾法耶德稱，戴安娜和他的兒子死于英國安全當(dāng)局的暗殺，并稱伊麗莎白女王的丈夫菲利浦親王以及戴安娜的前夫查爾斯王儲(chǔ)就是幕后指使。
艾爾法耶德提出這樣的控告是因?yàn)椋?dāng)時(shí)戴安娜和多迪即將宣布訂婚，而且戴安娜已懷孕。艾爾法耶德聲稱，英國王室不希望未來國王的母親為多迪生下孩子。
艾爾法耶德的律師麥克爾?曼斯菲爾德在詢問戴安娜生前密友羅莎?蒙克頓有關(guān)兩人的關(guān)系時(shí)，公開了這兩封情書的部分內(nèi)容。
曼斯菲爾德問道：“戴安娜王妃對(duì)多迪的感情是認(rèn)真的，是嗎？從信件內(nèi)容來看，一段時(shí)間之后，兩人的關(guān)系并非‘玩伴’那么簡單。”
蒙克頓回答說，戴安娜說話、寫東西向來比較夸張，但同時(shí)也贊同她寫這兩封信并不僅僅是為了讓多迪開心。
