The hottest movie ticket in town was also the biggest fashion event to hit New York City since Fashion Week, as "Sex and the City" premiered to a packed Radio City Music Hall on Tuesday night. The carpet was pink and the famous foursome who stars in the film version of the iconic television show wore shades of silver, gold, and white for the premiere that some thought would never happen.

Triumphant in a silvery Nina Ricci gown, Sarah Jessica Parker (along with hubby Matthew Broderick) joined Cynthia Nixon (in Narciso Rodriguez), Kim Cattrall (in Vivienne Westwood), and Kristen Davis (in Donna Karan) in celebrating the transition from HBO to the silver screen.

Earlier, at the press junket for the film, Parker credited the show's legions of fans for helping to keep the dream of a "Sex and the City" movie alive. It took four years and a lot of negotiation among the four stars to make the film a reality, but Parker, who is also one of the producers (along with director Michael Patrick King) refused to let the project die.

"This is the movie that Michael Patrick and I hoped for, fought for, dreamt of, battled for, doggedly pursued," Parker said. "As a producer, and definitely as an actor, it's kind of hard to describe how it feels to arrive at this date. It seems nothing short of miraculous. I feel that it's really the commitment and the energy of the audience, through DVD's and syndication, which actually allowed this possibility. Had they not been so devout we could not have convinced a studio to support this endeavor. It just wouldn't have been possible."
