          I. Medical institutions

          By the end of 2012, the total number of Gansu province's medical institutions reached 26,249, including village clinics. Among them, there were 402 hospitals, 25,478 grassroots medical and health organizations, and 337 professional public health agencies.

          Compared with last year, the number of hospitals, health centers, community health service centers and village clinics increased by 14, one, 45 and 14, respectively. On the flip side, clinics, health rooms and medical rooms decreased by 610. Provincial medical institutions saw a decrease of 513 throughout 2012.

          The number of public hospitals (government-invested) reached 229 by 2012. Private hospitals reached 173, including 100 hospitals run by non-government sectors and 73 by individuals.

          There were 191 hospitals equipped with less than 100 beds, 69 hospitals with 100-199 beds, 102 hospitals with 200-499 beds, 28 hospitals with 500-799 beds and 12 hospitals equipped with more than 800 beds.

          In regards to grassroots medical institutions, there were 620 community health service centers, 1,382 health centers, 6,703 clinics with health rooms and medical rooms, 66 outpatient departments and 16,707 village clinics.

          II. Beds in medical institutions

          By the end of 2012, the total amount of beds in medical institutions reached 111,979 in the entire province, including 76,304 hospital beds (accounting for 68.14 percent), 22,682 health center beds (20.26 percent), 8,877 beds in community health service centers (7.93 percent), and 3,187 beds in maternal and child health care centers (2.85 percent).

          Compared with 2011, the total number of beds in medical institutions increased 10,871, including 9,001 hospital beds, 1,015 beds in medical and health organizations, 795 beds in professional public health organizations and 60 beds in other medical institutions.

          III. Personnel in medical institutions

          By the end of 2012, the total amount of health labor in the province reached 129,067, including 110,222 health technicians, 41,893 medical practitioners, 36,961 registered nurses, 4,033 other technicians, 4,682 administrators and 10,130 support crew.
