Gansu to carry out supporting rural medical service project

Northwest China's Gansu province will build 83 medical teams and 360 medical groups to support healthcare services in 2015, according to the supporting rural medical project released by Gansu Provincial Health and Family Planning Commission.

Around 1,403 healthcare workers will participate in the project. The doctors and experts predominantly come from province-level hospitals. More than 400 medical and healthcare centers in 80 counties will get help.

According to the health commission, the project aims to deepen the comprehensive reform of rural medical and healthcare institutions, improve the professional skills of rural healthcare workers and make medical treatment accessible and inexpensive to the villagers.
