Students experience science in PE classes

For some students in Gansu province, PE class is not only for physical exercises. Gansu, in Northwest China, promotes the science and technology of physical education (PE) to cultivate students' operational ability.

For example, students in Tongwei Road Primary School learn how to operate model airplanes and directional radio devices in class.

Tongwei Road Primary School is one of the pilot schools teaching science in PE classes.

According to teachers, the science projects and contexts, which are well received by students and parents, are meant to enrich students’ PE sessions and teach ways to survive in the wild.
