As a concentrated area of the provincial modern service industry, Nengda central business district is the core area for the modern service industry in Nantong Development Zone. With an area of 15 square kilometers and a promoter region of the first phase of 2,000 mu (133 hectares), the district attaches importance to the development of the headquarter’s economy, commercial services, creative design, service outsourcing and technology research and development, and e-commerce industries. Since its construction in May 2008, the district has achieved an accumulated investment of 6 billion yuan, and introduced 40 modern service projects including Ctripo's call center, Jiangsu Federal Software and Oahu software.
The NETDA Free Trade Zone got the original go-ahead, on Jan 3, 2013, from the State Council, for a 5.29-sq-km area, in two parts.
