Power generation from the Cattle Hill Wind Farm in Australia exceeded 200 million kilowatt hours in the year to Nov 3, completing its annual power target 58 days in advance of year-end.
The 148-megawatt wind farm is a joint development between POWERCHINA, with an 80 percent stake and wind turbine maker Goldwind, which has 20 percent of the installation.

In early 2020, the COVID-19 epidemic broke out in Australia and Tasmania -- the island state at the southern tip of Australia, where the wind farm is located -- has entered a state of emergency. The installation and commissioning of the wind turbines of the project and the testing of grid-connected control nodes have been greatly affected.
Facing the challenge of the novel coronavirus epidemic, POWERCHINA made concerted efforts to advance the project's construction and start of production.
Through continuous efforts, on May 14, installation of all the wind turbines was completed and on Aug 3 the wind farm achieved full-capacity grid-connected power generation.
Cattle Hill Wind Farm is POWERCHINA's first renewable energy project in a developed country.
Located in central Tasmania, the project includes 48 wind turbines, with a total installed capacity of 148.4 megawatts and is connected to the Australia's national grid by a 4-kilometer, 220- kilovolt transmission line.
