Construction completed of key sewage system in Kenya

After 20 months of construction, the Kenya Narok Sewage System -- built in East Africa's Kenya by STECOL Corporation, a subsidiary of POWERCHINA -- recently received a completion certificate issued by its owner.

The sewage system has now entered a 12-month defect liability period.

The project is an important part of the urban master plan and is also the first sewage treatment system to operate in Narok, a town located west of Kenya's capital city, Nairobi.

The construction involved a new sewage treatment plant and auxiliary facilities, covering an area of 38 hectares and with a daily treatment capacity of 3,750 cubic meters.

It also included 52.7 kilometers of sewage pipelines, as well as rebuilding and expanding 84 km of water supply pipelines.

Since starting construction on April 15, 2019, the POWERCHINA project department faced a series of challenges such as land acquisition difficulties and bad weather.

It continued to improve communications with the owners, supervisors and government departments and adjusted the construction plan in a timely manner, to ensure the project was completed on time.

Moving forwards, while doing a good job in preventing and controlling the COVID-19 epidemic, the project department will continue to complete various tasks within the defect liability period with high standards and meet strict requirements.

The project will reinforce the strong corporate image of POWERCHINA, raise its profile in the region and extend the influence of the company's brand.
