Renji Hospital, ranked Grade 3, Class A, is affiliated with the Shanghai Jiaotong University School of Medicine. Founded in 1844, Renji Hospital was the first municipal hospital to be granted the ISO9001 standardization certificate in Shanghai. The hospital is now equipped with over 1,400 beds in service. The hospital consists of 42 clinical and technology departments and is well equipped with a large number of advanced medical facilities such as MRI, MSCT, PET-CT, DSA and SPECT. The hospital is known for its Research Institute of Digestive Diseases, Research Institute of Rheumatism, Research Institute of Andrological Disease and the Shanghai Obstetrical Heart Disease Center.

The hospital has several state-level key departments, Ministry of Health specialty labs, and key subjects for the ‘‘211” project. Hundreds of state-level and city-level research programs have been developed in recent years including the “973” project, “863” project and National Natural Science Foundation.
