Operated by DHL, Dell's Global Spare Parts Distribution Center opened in the Comprehensive Bonded Zone in Shanghai Pudong International Airport on June 21, 2013. Currently, distribution centers for more than 20 world famous companies have come to the Comprehensive Bonded Zone in Pudong Airport.

The opening of Dell's Global Spare Parts Distribution Center will encourage more digital producers to set up distribution centers in Pudong Airport, encouraging the construction of a distribution center cluster in the airport, said Wang Xinling, director deputy of the managing committee of Shanghai Comprehensive Bonded Zone.

Currently, the distribution centers in the Comprehensive Bonded Zone in Pudong Airport fall into four categories: industrial parts products, consumer electronics products, medical equipment products and imported high-end commodities.

The Comprehensive Bonded Zone in Pudong Airport utilizes the unique advantages of Pudong Airport to build a more convenient trade environment. Currently there are 220 enterprises in the comprehensive bonded zone, bringing $262 million of contracted foreign capital and 4.5 billion yuan ($733.6 million) of contracted domestic capital.

From January to May this year, the Comprehensive Bonded Zone in Pudong Airport has realized $950 million of inbound and outbound cargo value, a year-on-year increase of 54.5 percent; 230 million yuan of customs revenue, a year-on-year increase of 100.2 percent; 66 million yuan of industrial and commercial tax, a year-on-year increase of 71.4 percent.

The construction of the air transport distribution center cluster is a main goal for the development of the Comprehensive Bonded Zone in Pudong Airport. The zone has provided more simple and convenient procedures for customs clearance according to the characteristics of air transport logistics, optimizing the regional operation environment. More multinational companies have chosen Pudong Airport to set up their Asia-Pacific or global distribution centers, transferring their business from Singapore and Hong Kong to Pudong Airport. The Comprehensive Bonded Zone in Pudong Airport is now becoming an important hub for global logistics distribution and transit.
