The building of a center for military-civilian integration and technology innovation in Southwest China's Liangjiang New Area was announced on July 7.

The center is expected to serve as a platform between Northwestern Polytechnical University and Liangjiang companies to create new prospects for regional cooperation and high-quality development.

Eyeing a wide range of in-depth exchanges with NPU, Chongqing will offer comprehensive support to the construction of the center and the recruitment of talent, said Tang Liangzhi, mayor of Chongqing municipality, during the ceremony.

Zhang Wei, Party secretary of NPU, said that his university will combine its research advantages with Chongqing's key advanced industries, such as smart manufacturing, to work towards more shared achievements for both sides.

Accordingly, the Chongqing innovation center will focus on technology transfer and industry incubation in many key sectors, including smart cities, high-end equipment, robotic technologies and the aerospace industry.

It will also be an important base for postgraduate education, Zhang added.

Attending the signing ceremony were Wu Cunrong, deputy mayor of Chongqing municipality, and Wang Jinsong, president of NPU.
