Fuhui Tunnel in Liangjiang New Area, Southwest China's Chongqing has been broken through and will be opened in December 2019, which will shorten the driving time from Longsheng area to Jiangbei International Airport to 30 minutes.

According to Production Manager Wang Long, the second concrete placing has been completed, and the ancillary works, as well as the pipe network project are under construction.

The tunnel, which is an important part of Fuhui Avenue, is a municipal priority project. The first phase of Fuhui Avenue is the urban main road, which had a total investment of 256 million yuan ($37.18 million). Eighty percent of the project has now been finished.

The road starts from Yujing Avenue in the west and ends at the airport in the east, stretching 1,004 meters. It has six dual carriageways with the total width of 39 to 61 meters. The designed speed is 50 kilometers per hour.

"Cars can go through the first phase of Fuhui Avenue to the east line of the airport, which will improve the infrastructure in Liangjiang New Area and promote city construction," added Wang.
