Reader Question: “Meanwhile, Horatio and Rebecca's relationship is in jeopardy when they don't see eye to eye on a case.” Could you explain “see eye to eye”? My comments: In the above example, taken from a synopsis of the hit American television show “CSI: Miami”, the two characters in question, Horatio (played by David Caruso) and Rebecca (played by Taiwanese-American actress Christina Chang), don’t agree on something. When you don’t “see eye to eye” you are in disagreement over an issue; when you do “see eye to eye” you agree on the same thing. A classic example of not seeing “eye to eye” is in the battle of the sexes. Men and women constantly don’t “see eye to eye” on things, from the woman’s role at home to salary earnings. Parents and their children are usually at odds too, with mom and dad enforcing rules of curfew and housework, whereas children (especially teenagers) may not agree.
