China's first national engineering lab to develop big data security was established on May 26 at the International Big Data Expo 2017 held in Guiyang, Guizhou province.
The lab will be led by 360 Business Security Group, one of China's top online security service providers.
Approved by National Development and Reform Commission earlier this year, 360 Business Security Group will cooperate with other security organizations such as the State Information Center and Cyberspace Great Wall to manage the lab, setting standards and researching better ways to analyze big data security.

At the inauguration ceremony, an analysis report was released evaluating urban cyber security in China. Guiyang is the country's ninth safest city in terms of the data security of individuals, companies and government.
"The systematic cyber security index provides an innovative evaluation method to help promote the level of a city's data security," said Chen Gang, secretary of Guiyang Municipal CPC Committee. "Now we have the technology support with the big data security lab in Guiyang."
Guiyang was also honored as a model city for big data security at the ceremony.
360 Business Security Group has created the world's best artificial intelligence antivirus program based on 10 billion samples in their database.
Qi Xiangdong, chairman of 360 Business Security Group, said the increasing number of services provided by e-governance platforms highlights the importance of online data security.
"We use big data to protect big data and thus protect the economic and information security of institutions and governments," Qi said.
