The Qingyan and Dongtun service stations, which are located along the S89 Huaxi-Anshun Highway in Southwest China's Guizhou province opened on Aug 29, a move showing the province's determination to further improve its tourism services.
Positioned as comprehensive service areas, both stations are equipped with a variety of facilities for parking, gas filling, catering, shopping, accommodation and leisure activities.
The Qingyan Service Station is designed with decorative elements of Qingyan Ancient Town in Guizhou, in a bid to spread the historic and cultural ideas of the town. Floor tiles and other decorative materials provide a picture incorporating modern and Chinese ancient arts.
Covering an area of about 228 mu (15.2 hectares) and a floor area of around 13,000 square meters, it can serve 188 cars and 120 people for toilets. One hundred and thirty people can have meals simultaneously in its dining hall.
The design of the Dongtun Service Station originates from the "Tunpu culture" in Guizhou, which was mainly formed by village descendants of the ethnic Han soldiers who manned a garrison in the area.
Featuring Tunpu batik and stone arts, the station covers an area of 160 mu and a floor area of 74,000 square meters. Its parking area is for 99 cars and its toilets can serve 66 people. The dining hall is equipped with 110 seats.
It's worth noting that both stations have special areas for rest, free water and garages for travellers. Baby care rooms, wheelchair accessible toilets a children's playground and medicine are also available.
The two stations will have more infrastructure,including rockery or bonsai platforms, in an effort to improve Guizhou's transport service and to develop high standard special services, said a spokesperson with the station construction work.
