Kweichow Moutai Co Ltd, China's top liquor brand, moved up 65 places to number 269 on the 2018 "Top 500 Enterprises in China" list, which was issued by the China Enterprise Confederation and the China Enterprise Directors Association on Sept 2.
Enterprises with a minimum revenue of 30 billion yuan ($4.40 billion) qualify for the list.
This year, the number of listed enterprises with a revenue exceeding 100 billion yuan was 172, representing a record high. Five of the 172 enterprises surpassed one trillion yuan in revenue.
In last year's list, only the State Grid Cooperation of China reached two trillion yuan in revenue, but China Petrochemical Corporation and China National Petroleum Corporation joined the club this year.
The Industrial and Commercial Bank of China (ICBC) and China State Construction Engineering Corporation Ltd surpassed one trillion yuan in revenue. China State Construction Engineering Corporation Ltd is the first new enterprise to join the trillion-yuan enterprise club in three years.
Enterprises in the fields of finance, telecommunications, Internet services, and real estate have become the most profitable industries among the top 500 enterprises. Data shows that the revenue and net profit of the 33 financial enterprises in the list are 10.7 trillion yuan and 1.7 trillion yuan, accounting for 15 percent and 65.8 percent of the total, respectively. The net profit of 17 banks is 1.4 trillion yuan, accounting for 43.4 percent of the total.
The top 10 enterprises in terms of total profits are as follows: the ICBC, China Construction Bank, China Agricultural Bank, the Bank of China, China Development Bank, China Ping An Insurance Group Co Ltd, Tencent, China Mobile, China Merchants Bank, and the Bank of Communications.
