The Tongren Wanshan Mercury Mine Site, known as the "China Mercury Capital", holds four world records: the oldest mining history (630 years), the most primitive and most advanced mercury mining and smelting technology, the rarest underground mining tunnels (about 970 kilometers deep)and the largest natural cinnabar.
